Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again.Exodus 14:13

Standing firm is an important principle in following and knowing the Lord. It is difficult to follow the Lord when we are always running away from what He wants to say to us. Running and listening do not mix. However, standing firm and still work much better when hearing the Lord

.When we run, we are overwhelmed by distraction and fear. Running is very exhausting, and we have no strength to do what the Lord requires. But, when we stand still, we have chosen the Lord to be our defense. The Lord wants to be our defense in every situation. When evil knows that it cannot defeat us, it is not likely it will come back in the same form again. It is in choosing the Lord to be our sure defense that we snap the traps and snares of the enemy.
