Fear the Lord your God and serve Him. Hold fast to Him and take your oaths in His name. Deuteronomy 10:20

We often confuse the word fear for the word awe. This verse talks about the awe of God and how we should serve Him because of the great love that He has given to us. In this society where very little is held in reverence, it is strength and power for us to revere His name with a sense of awe.

As we hold fast to this awe of Him, we defeat the temptation of fear and doubt. Too often we speak an oath because of fear. Instead, the Lord wants us to serve Him and hold fast to His steadfast love. Because He never lets go of us, we are empowered to never let go of Him.
