I will lie down and sleep in peace, for You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety. Psalm 4:8

Fear is a constant torment that steals our peace. We cannot sleep because we cannot rest. We have great peace when we experience the Lord’s presence in our situation. This peace comes from disciplining ourselves to consistently seek Him on a daily basis and to recognize the character and nature of the Lord. This is a daily pursuit that is clearly worth it.

Only the Lord can give us a deep sense of protection and safety that comes from the absence of fear. Without God, we wander endlessly seeking for answers and safety. However, with God we can find a dwelling place that answers our questions and meets our needs and desires. No one finds a home and then wanders away from it constantly. Only God, Himself, can offer us a home where we can dwell in safety because our trust is in Him.
