But let all who take refuge in You be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love Your name may rejoice in You.
Psalm 5:11
This verse contains some critical elements in our fight with fear. The first element is taking refuge in the Lord. Our normal fear response is to run away from a fear object or person. But a godly response is to run towards God for refuge. The result of our refuge is to be glad of our victory. This could easily result in singing about the virtues and power of the Lord, which increases our faith about His protection.

When we find the Lord to be our refuge, we will love Him more deeply and treasure His name in our heart. In this heart condition, the Lord is able to spread His protection over us because of our increased faith, worship and rejoicing. A rejoicing heart is a thankful heart that protects us from the sickness of trouble and fear.
