But the needy will not always be forgotten, nor the hope of the afflicted ever perish. Psalm 9:18

Being forgotten leads us down the pathway of fear. People become progressively needier the more that they become afraid. The needy offers fear wide open space to operate and exist daily. Fear limits creativity, blocks options and squelches relationships. All these troubles lead to a deeper case of need and fear, which is exactly what our adversary wants to accomplish.

God constantly reminds us that He will never forget us and that He has a plan to meet our needs. Fear blocks faith and short circuits our ability to receive from God what we need. Affliction certainly cripples our ability to have hope, but God is the source and center of all hope now and in the future.

In fear, our hope perishes, and we become more afflicted. No hope has ever tumbled out of God’s loving arms. We can trust Jesus, who has never lied to us and never will. He truly is our provider, defender and protector. With Him we will live abundantly and not in need.
