In You our fathers put their trust; they trusted and were not disappointed. Psalm 22:4

We put our money in the bank because we trust that it will be the safest place. We are also very careful to put the things that we treasure in a safe place. This verse reminds us that our Father’s love for us is a true treasure because God is a treasure. Our fathers understood this when they placed all their trust in the Father of all fathers. Not only is He our Father, He is the Creator, Redeemer and restoring God who maintains our lives as well as the universe. The fathers recognized that He is the ultimate authority and sustainer of each promise that He has made. They believed that there was no better place to put their trust than in our Father God.

Our fathers were not disappointed because they trusted in the unfailing love and faithfulness of Father God our Creator. They remembered many past events in their lives where God kept His promises to them. Our fathers believed in His love so strongly that they instilled their faith into the hearts of their children.

What is in our hearts? What memories do we have of our Father God’s faithfulness to us? Do we have a treasure chest of memories that help us remember the victories of God’s hand in our lives?
