It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect.2 Samuel 22:33

Who is better to give strength than the One who makes strength in the first place? Yes, of course, this is God Himself who wants to give strength to His own people. This verse also implies that the author asked God for strength when he felt weak. When we are in weakness, we become much more unsure of ourselves on how to proceed.

An ancient manner of saying God makes my way perfect is another way of saying, He gives me confidence. This is precisely what we need when we face our enemies and we are faced with doubt, uncertainties and difficulties.

Remember this verse also says that he did not make his own way perfect, but that confidence in God helped him choose the right path.
