Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will take me in. Psalm 27:10
As a child, one of our greatest fears is that we will lose our father and mother and that they will not be there to take care of us. It is hard for the young mind of the child to deal with the big, bad fears of life without mom and dad. Also, one of the great problems of our society is that the orphan spirit is rampant. Many adult children feel that their mother or father no longer support or love them as they should. They feel alone, abandoned or rejected emotionally, which creates great fear in their heart.
The Lord anticipated this problem of the human heart, and when the psalmist David experienced this in his own life, God offered His love and an eternal home to David. What a relief it must have been to David, after pondering the rejection of his earthly father, to realize the acceptance of his Heavenly Father.

This was a soul wound in his heart that only God’s unfailing love could fix. Every person wants to live in a safe and happy home, and David was no exception. Our God of abundant love promises to take us in and heal our soul wounds and love us forever.
