For His anger lasts only a moment, but His favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may remain for a night but rejoicing comes in the morning. Psalm 30:5
Did you ever feel like your troubles were going to last forever? This Psalm signals that it will not. The troubles of this life are more like vapor that are here and suddenly gone in comparison to eternity. We get so wrapped up and bound in our troubles that we feel that they are never going to end especially when we are wrapped up in consternation and fears. This verse encourages us to have a more eternal perspective on our life events.
When we invest into eternity, we see that God tells us that His favor lasts into eternity. We can handle trouble a lot better when we know that it will be brief. When we are overcome with the fatigue of constant battles, it is difficult to think clearly and with boldness. God is there with us doing battle and preparing our hearts and spirits for eternity. Here on earth, our victories may seem small, but they are magnified in the scope of God’s eternal love for us. God’s desire for us is to celebrate our victories again and again with Him, because they are His victories. Perhaps our greatest victory of all is that we did not give up and quit because of negative emotions and fear. When our Daddy God wins, we also win.
