In You, O Lord, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame; deliver me in Your righteousness. Psalm 31:1

God is the only true refuge on this planet. We try to find a refuge everywhere, in our distractions, in our habits, in our addictions and in our relationships. Jesus is the only true refuge of the wandering and fearful soul.

The amazing thing about His refuge is that it is offered freely to anyone who asks for it. We don’t have to pay to get in or earn our way, because it is by grace alone, we are saved. We receive salvation by a decision of our will. We then get the privilege of enjoying and treasuring our relationship with the Lord in our hearts.

In the presence of Christ there is no shame or guilt. This is because of His overwhelming sacrifice on the cross where the blood of Jesus was shed for us. In His blood we are made clean and, in His beauty, we become more like Him. We are delivered by His awesome love and faithfulness on the cross so we too can be righteous.
