Turn your ear to me, come quickly to my rescue; be my rock of refuge, a strong fortress to save me. Psalm 31:2

Turn your ear to me is an ancient way of saying, “Pay attention.” In our time, we may think that God’s phone is busy or that He has another important appointment.

The truth is, however, that God is always watching over us with great love and rapt
attention. He waits to answer for our own good and for our growth. God chooses to answer us at the best time and in the best way.

When we are flooded with adversity and trouble, we seek a rock of refuge where we can feel safe. That rock of refuge is God’s hand over us and with us. What could be a better fortress for us than God’s covenant love? Could we find anything better to save us? We think not. That is why we choose to call out to the Lord in times of trouble.
