Better the little that the righteous have than the wealth of many wicked. Psalm 37:16

Struggle, oppression, bondage and captivity can steal our confidence and our resources. In this world, we may experience some or maybe all the above. If our lives are but a breath in the overall picture, our wealth is even less. The wicked, or those who oppress, concentrate on taking advantage of others to steal whenever they can; but even their wealth is but a shadow in the passage of time.

God has promised us that the righteous will shine like the sun into eternity. Most of us who are reading this book are willing to admit that the presence of the Lord contains more riches than all the wealth of the world. If His mere presence would be more important than life, the wealth that we could accrue would be even less. This verse is saying, don’t waste your time on a shadow or a mere breath that will pass away; but, instead, give yourself fully to having a relationship with the eternal God of the universe! This is indeed the greatest treasure, wealth and prize. What are you willing to sacrifice for this great treasure?
