God put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the Lord. Psalm 40:3

The gift of song and worship is a powerful one in our lives. In our culture, we sing about many other things, but we do not often sing about God. Power comes from worship; it brings down God’s touch and intervention.

Worship and prayer change the situation either in us or in people around us. God gives us the gifts of worship and prayer as weapons to change the atmosphere. It is ironic that only when we are at our most helpless point, that we will resort to prayer and worship of God. We are often proud and take the credit for changes and victories in our life. Didn’t this come because of my hard work?

We don’t know it, but many are watching us to see what our God will do. We are so involved in our own situation that we often forget that it is not all about us. No, it is really about God’s glory. This is often why He waits to respond to show us that He is the One to make the decision about change and victory in us and through us. When others see God work, they will be in awe of Him, and then learn to put their trust in Him. We learn by observation when we are in desperate situations. We ask ourselves, “Do you have what it takes?” God does.
