Blessed is he who has regard for the weak; the Lord delivers him in times of trouble. Psalm 41:1

Hidden in this psalm is a great principle for the days ahead. The Lord says that if we take care of the weak, He will take care of us when we feel weak. This is both comforting and thought provoking. The two key words in this verse are regard and weak. We regard many things in life. However, we do not always act on what we see.

In this way, David would be encouraging us to both see and act for those who were suffering or in trouble. This attitude is compatible with David as a shepherd and king of Israel. Both the people and the sheep of Israel had a great need for protection and care.

When we are in trouble, we delight in telling the Lord how to rescue us. Because He is God, He has an infinite number of ways that He can rescue us from our trouble. When we are afraid, we try to take control away from God. This results in a poor solution filled with fear and trouble. Trust and obedience in God are the best choices for us when we are afraid. Humility and prayer lead us to great blessings in troubled times
