Vindicate me, O God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation; rescue me from deceitful and wicked men. Psalm 43:1

Boldness with God is the key concept of this verse. Even when we feel very weak and oppressed, we can be very bold in approaching God to rescue us. This is because of His great love, mercy and affection for us.

To be vindicated means to be justified or declared innocent from the plots of the deceitful and wicked. The Psalmist has no fear of appealing to the court of heaven, because God, the Ultimate Judge of all the earth, snaps the snares and foils the traps of the wicked.

With these wicked plots foiled, the Psalmist finds faith and courage to seek God’s plans. Boldness in pleading our case to the Lord is our great privilege in the face of wicked men and wicked nations. This is true especially when sin often makes little or no sense when evil has its way. God will come again for the final time and set everything right; remember, vengeance is mine says the Lord, and I will repay.
