Therefore, we will not fear, though the earth gives way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. Psalm 46:2

How and where did the Psalmist get saturated with so much faith and confidence? One of the reasons is that he realized the nature, scope and abilities of his God. This came through his relationship with Him. How many of us would not be afraid if we were faced with the possibility of a major geothermal event in the earth. This is when the major physical realities of what we depend upon in the earth are majorly shaken.

The Psalmist was not afraid because of his unshakeable confidence in the steadfast unfailing love of God to protect him, even though the earth was falling apart. Even more important to him was the fact that he was able to focus on the eternal rather than his temporal destiny. He knew that this life is like a vapor that fades away quickly in comparison to his heavenly destiny with Father God. (James 4:14)
