Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor Me. Psalm 50:15

Surely as darkness and trouble continues to descend upon society and upon us, some people will call upon their gods or idols to help them. In this verse, God gives us an invitation to call upon Him when we are in trouble and difficulty.
Sin multiplies the troubles in our life, and we need God’s hand to escape them and find relief. This is a straightforward invitation from a loving God, who cares about His frail and needy people. We become more frail and needy when we indulge in the sinful patterns of the world. God knows that we cannot escape by ourselves and that we need His deliverance.
God’s deliverance comes in many forms through our mind, body and spirit. That is because He cares and treasures the whole person. God knows that the clutches of sin can affect how we relate to others. When we are in trouble, we often go to the wrong source for deliverance. God promises that when we call upon Him, He will send deliverance. This is so we will learn to honor and revere Him. God is after the affections and devotion of our heart because His heart is always towards us. God uses our trouble to develop thankfulness and praise in our hearts and in our lives.
