Surely God is my help, the Lord is the one who sustains me. Psalm 54:4

How many times have we looked for help and found none? This verse boldly declares that God is our help and our solution in every circumstance that we face. The term, the Lord, reaffirms His sovereignty over all our fears and injustices.

This means that He has complete authority to do whatever He wants in each situation that we encounter. God’s resources are unlimited, and His mind has endless possibilities in creating solutions for us.

Not only does God establish solutions, He also sustains them after He creates them. There is no plan of man that can surprise Him or confound Him. This gives us a reverent and holy fear and awe of the person of God. The fact that God is a person and not just a spirit means that we can establish a meaningful and ongoing relationship with Him. It is in this relationship, that God helps us and sustains our very lives.
