Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress; I will not be shaken. Psalm 62:5

David finds cause to speak to his soul to find rest in God alone. With this principle, he gives us a model to follow for growth and maturity in our walk with God. David indicates that he cannot find rest for his soul in any person or worldly pursuit.

With the words, God alone, David ascends to a greater excellence and maturity in his relationship with God. With fear absent, he was able to find greater rest and strength in dealing with his life and problems. Rest and peace increased as his fear diminished. David used his hope in God as a weapon against his enemies and a refuge for himself.

With God’s intervention comes stability to deal with the upheavals of turmoil and trouble in our lives. With rest and peace as our weapon and our fortress, we will not be shaken during those times.
