Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorifyYou. Psalm 63:3

While we are on earth, we are always looking for something better than what we have. This is because our life is full of uncertainties and disappointments. We are confronted by countless advertisements trumpeting the virtues of the next new product. It is in this setting that God reveals His love. Despite all of man’s efforts, man can do nothing to surpass God’s affections for us.

God’s love is so precious that it is better than life itself. This is the ultimate comparison that man could make. What is more precious to a man than his life? Yet, men often say God’s love cannot be compared to any treasure or possession. The word glorify here is the highest form of praise. This praise captures our heart and leaves no room for fear. This gift of God’s love is so exquisite to a man’s heart that it becomes worthy of man glorifying God. This highlights another important weapon in our battle against fear, that is the praise of God. When praise fills up our heart, there is no room left for the emptiness and darkness of fear and anxiety.
