Whom have I in heaven but You? And earth has nothing I desire besides You.
Psalm 73:25

With this the writer cries, God you are everything I need! He knows that God is the source of every blessing, happiness and treasure. The writer can think of nothing better than God’s presence given to those who loved Him and sought Him daily. He was aware that even heaven could not contain the magnificent power, authority and beauty of God.

In contrast, all the beauty of the earth was nothing in comparison to God. This is because the Psalmist’s relationship was the key to enjoying God’s presence. God has unconditional and unfailing love for us that is not based on performance. It is quite true that in view of all this, earthly relationships could not hold a candle to the burning passion of God’s pure, true and faithful heart.
