I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. Psalm 77:11

Did you ever have to cross the Red Sea as the Israelites did? That was quite an experience for them. It was a great experience for them except for one thing. The Israelites forgot about it and did not remember the deeds of the Lord. They did not include this event as part of their heritage with God. This was only one of the miracles that God did to set them free from the Egyptians. The Israelites chose not to remember those either.

When the Israelites often did not remember the intervention for them, they did not take advantage of the opportunity to reduce fear and build courage in their lives. The psalmist chose to remember what God did to rescue them. As a result, his relationship with God was strengthened and deepened for perilous times in the future. These miracles were living images of God’s love for His troubled people. They were also signs of His faithfulness and forgiveness even though His people repeatedly turned away from God. The unfailing love of God was perhaps the greatest miracle of all.
