In your distress you called, and I rescued you, I answered you out of a thundercloud. Psalm 81:7
It seems like we are perpetually in one kind of distress or another. Isn’t it good that we have someone very powerful and rich to call upon? You are right, God is that person. We call on God when we pray. It is God’s divine method of communicating with us. God will take our requests in any or all matters, great or small. He is never too busy to listen because His attention is always fixed upon us. It is much better than having your butler at your beckon call. Our distress does not make God distressed as He already has an answer for us at the right place and time.
When God answers us by rescuing us, it may not be the type of rescue that we prefer. However, we must learn, in our own way, that God is God and we are not. When we try to remedy our distress in our own strength, we can find ourselves in conditions of doubt and uncertainty, which cause our fears to increase and multiply. God answers us and saves us to provide His holy solutions to our difficulties.
