Surely salvation is near those who fear Him, that His glory may dwell in our land. Psalm 85:9

The first step towards salvation, says the Psalmist, is to be in awe or fear of God. This reverence is an important weapon in combating anxiety or fear because it points us to a greater reality. This is the reality of God’s magnificent and overwhelming power over fear and darkness. When we grow in skill in defeating fear, we must use a step by step approach. With these steps, we gain more confidence as we acquire more intimacy with God.

This intimacy also leads to a deeper understanding and appreciation of His glory. His glory is like a burning fire that eradicates all that stands in its way. Fear keeps us centered on our circumstance. God’s glory radiates His character and glorious plans for us. When God’s glory dwells in the land, darkness and fear cannot remain. This is because men’s souls are consumed with His love and goodness.
