Many of us consider friendships to be the greatest treasures of life. They bring us countless rewards and much consolation and joy. A good friend can touch a friend’s heart in a way no one else could. They understand the terrors of our soul and the earthquake of our many emotions. One of the greatest afflictions that a human being can experience is to have no friend and no one to care for or understand them. This is ripe ground for anxiety, mental illness and social misconduct of all kinds.

The Creator God knows how to do this better than anyone else. He understands the dynamics of friendship and the power it has to produce love, joy and security in our lives. There are countless stories that have been recounted of how friendship has powerfully and positively impacted and saved us from all kinds of threatening situations. Our Lord promises to be a steadfast friend for us. It is our obedience to His commandments that completes the circuit of blessing, consolation and joy to our soul. God delights in this so much that He can’t wait to do it again in our lives. This will happen again and again as we depend and trust Him for everything
