Sing to the Lord, praise His name; proclaim His salvation day after day.
Psalm 96:2

When is the last time that you sang a song to yourself? Songs have great power to affect our hearts and form our emotions. The Lord uses song to stir our hearts up to desire Him and to know Him. Songs are used to describe the attributes of the loved one and praise the faithfulness of love.
When a song bursts from our heart, it is usually about love. Love stirs us like no other force in the universe and prepares us for brave and courageous acts. It fights against fear.
Many times, songs are about special people in our lives. God certainly fills that category among us. It is right and fitting for us to praise and proclaim His greatness and the deeds of His salvation. We are saved in many ways in mind, body and spirit, although we are likely not to be so aware of them now. Salvation for us is a day by day event that requires the daily vigilance and compassion of God towards our wounds and our sin. It is the Lord who gives us the breath of life each minute and sustains us to do the work of His hands and heart.
