Who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagles. Psalm 103:4-5
The pit described here is a place called hell in the Bible. It is a place of unending or never-ending horror, pain and suffering for those who do not have a relationship with Jesus. As usual, God has a better idea than the devil, who will live permanently in hell. The devil is the eternal loser and all his ideas and schemes are worthless and despicable. To be redeemed is an unspeakably good third benefit to us mere mortals. There was no one else who could do this except Jesus Christ Himself.
On earth, what we desire is what will meet our most immediate needs. These desires and solutions are fleeting and very temporary. God, however, satisfies our desires with good things that can only come from Him. They are made even better by the fact that they are permanent and meet our deepest needs. They are so good for us that His presence renews our joy and peace. These benefits allow us to be one day crowned by love and the compassion of God.
