It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust man. Psalm 118:8

A simple acceptance of this straightforward truth in this Psalm could have saved mankind an untold amount of grief, pain and sorrow. Men have refused to relinquish their own ideas for the Lord’s ideas. They have chosen to use their own ideas, skills and abilities to further build their own empire.

Isn’t it interesting that God wants to build a kingdom that He completely shares with others, but men want to build an empire that they completely control for their own benefit? Man is finite because he was created by God. We have an infinite God who dispels fear when we take refuge in Him. The Almighty God is the only true refuge because He never falters or wavers from His promises to His children.
