Unless the Lord builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Psalm 127:1

Does the Lord build your house? If you ask Him to, He can. Unfortunately, our own desires and plans of the flesh will take the Lord’s place if we are not careful. When we build the house, the foundations are faulty, and fear can creep into our lives because we do not know all the possible circumstances or solutions of building the very house that we need.

We want everything to be built now or as quickly as possible in our microwave society. This is not the recipe for craftmanship. Our emotions can misdirect our energies into futile places or systems that are faulty. We may use the wrong resources because they are immediately available.

When the Lord builds the house, it is laced with love, joy and harmony as well as the other fruit of the Holy Spirit. Men take great pride in grand buildings that they erect which crumble and fade. They like to put their name on them and boast about their monuments to their fame. The Lord builds up His temple or His house in our hearts and lives. They are living memorials to His greatness and power. God’s family leaves behind stories of miracles, faith and courage, which are shared again and again to all who want to hear them. These stories build up our own faith as we hear them and live on in our own hearts. The Lord is constantly at work in us to build His kingdom and make it a reality for all to see.
