The fear of the Lord leads to life; then one rests content, untouched by trouble. Proverbs 19:23

A true fear of the Lord touches many different areas of our life. This could include studying the Bible, reflection, respect, awe, wonder, authority and fear. We see here that the fear of the Lord is no small thing in a well lived life. All of these could be well used to add to the quality and contentment of our life. The result of a true fear of the Lord varies from person to person. We all have different things that spell out contentment for us.

Because of the total greatness of God, we will be untouched or unshaken by various forms of trouble, such as, fear and anxiety or intimidation. The word untouched in this verse is very interesting. I think it refers to trouble not having a lasting imprint or impression on the quality or the outcome of our life. The very peace and presence of the Lord describes a lack of turbulence or disorder. The fear of the Lord puts us on the path to peace that cannot be shaken by trouble.
