He who loves a pure heart and whose speech is gracious will have the king for his friend. Proverbs 22:11

What king or ruler do you honor and serve? We will spend the rest of our lives answering this question. Our loyalties are always being tested or brought into question. Both sin and love cause us to make choices about our actions and our destinies. The king or ruler searches his people to see who he can trust to help him to administer his laws and his ways. The king wants to know who will follow his laws diligently and without question or rebellion.

If an earthly king will test our motives and actions, how much more will our heavenly King Jesus do the same. Every king gives his treasure or honor to those he can trust who will respect and follow his commands. Our King Jesus wants us to have a pure heart like His so that we can enjoy a wonderful relationship with Him.

In doing so, we can also have the power and privileges of reigning with Him in His kingdom. A pure heart is valued by some men, but it is essential for having a deep relationship with our king Jesus.
