Who is this coming up out of the wilderness leaning on her beloved?
Song of Songs 8:5

Who is the who is this unusual question? The who is every believer in Christ and the church, which is the bride of Christ. We all could use special advice, protection and comfort in situations where we feel threatened and danger is apparent. Presently, we are not lacking the possibility of dangerous situations confronting each one of us. This is one reason why we need someone that we deeply trust to go through the wilderness of danger and sin, where we can find protection and forgiveness.

The question is, then, who is our beloved? This will be a question that we will spend the rest of our life answering to one degree or another. Is our beloved a good friend? Is it our bank account? Is it our talents or skills? Is it our connections in the world? Is it something else?

It is only Christ Jesus who knows the way through and out of the wilderness of the problems in our life. He alone has a perfect record of trustworthiness and love for us. If you find yourself in the wilderness, who will be your beloved?
