If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all.
Isaiah 7:9b
Without a foundation, nothing can stand. If you believe in God, faith in God must be your foundation, which is faith in His character, nature and dependability. It is Jesus who is the cornerstone of our faith and everything else we need to continue our relationship with God. We need to have a focus for our life to continue to function and grow. Our faith is a reference point by which we measure every decision that we make for now and for the future. If we do not have faith in God as the central focus, we will be blown about by every wind and desire that we think will meet our current needs. Our world is a constantly shifting force that is continually pulling at our heart strings to find satisfaction and love.

Our faith in God is the anchor of our soul in an evil and nebulous world. We can develop this faith or strengthen our anchor by spending time in the Word of God, prayer and sharing our faith experience with others. Faith is a gift from God to counteract the strategies of the world. It is our way of saying, “No you don’t, I choose to stand firm.”
If we do not stand firmly on our foundation, our reference point, we will have no basis to make accurate decisions concerning our future and our relationships with God and others. If everything changes constantly, then there will be nothing to depend upon as the anchor of our soul.
