Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; He rises to show you compassion; For the Lord is a God of justice, blessed are all who wait for Him. Isaiah 30:18

Can we pause for a minute to think how a young mother feels towards her first newborn baby? She is bursting with pride, pleasure and happiness about the newest member of her family. Her heart is probably exploding with grace and compassion towards her child. This is a tiny thumbnail sketch showing how the Lord God might feel about us when we are helpless and in need of care and protection.

That same God is a righteous Father who is the author of all righteousness and justice. His heart smolders with distaste over injustice and all forms of abuse. The longer we live, the more likely we are to feel that we are a victim of injustice or abuse in this sinful world. Isn’t it good that we have a compassionate, righteous and mighty Father who can correct all the times that we have been unjustly treated or abused? We can use this thought to provide a sense of balance. This is a remedy to help us with the out of kilter existence in a world that seems to be spinning out of control.
