August 3rd

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. Isaiah 43:2

Waters in this verse is used as an analogy for the destroyer that brings danger, fear, anxiety and destruction. Unfortunately, our lives are fraught with these problems. The Lord is sending a tireless invitation to give us assistance, consolation, rescue and hope. His precise and patient understanding of our problems are priceless to us. Our lives here are a constant struggle between survival and great victory.

When our problems multiply, we may fear that we will be overwhelmed and swept away into defeat and despair. The Lord holds His loving hand over us and captures us so that we will not be swept over the water falls of life by our own sin and ignorance. We were not made to be tumbled away in the swirl of angry waters. We are made to live securely in the river of life that never ends.
