See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up, do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland. Isaiah 43:19
Our fabulous and unlimited God is always creating a new thing or a new situation. God never tires of doing one amazing thing after another to delight and please His beloved children. Sometimes we need the eyes of faith to receive the new thing that He is doing but other times it is in plain sight in a way that cannot be denied or explained any other way.
Who else could do these incredible feats except God? The desert in this passage is a metaphor for hopelessness and abandoned dreams and plans that did not come to fruition. The wasteland is a metaphor for useless things that are cast away and it will not produce life. The Lord delights in taking these forgotten and useless things and breathing new life into them. In this way, the Lord confounds the best plans and devices of humanity which proclaim that they do not need God or His ways. God is the definition for exciting because He created the world. There is no end to the new things which He could make spring up in our desert or wasteland.
