I have swept away your offenses like a cloud, your sins like the morning mist. Return to Me, for I have redeemed you. Isaiah 44:22
It is remarkable that God has chosen to completely forgive and forget our offenses and sin. Our sin is surely a stench to God’s nostrils, something that is totally opposite of His nature. God is holy, which means there is no one like Him. Our sin is an abomination to His character and His purposes. In other words, our sin is revolting and disgusting to Him. Yet, God is willing to sweep away our sin like a puffy cloud or a fragile morning mist when we ask His forgiveness.
The phrase, return to Me, also implies that we have left Him or chosen to turn away from His presence. It is this presence that is our life and breath, and gives us victory, meaning and purpose in our lives. It is God’s presence that gives us a destiny in our life that is priceless. That is why His gift of forgiveness and redemption is unspeakably valuable and necessary to the outcome of our lives.
