I, even I, am He who comforts you. Who are you that you fear mortal men, the sons of men, who are but grass, that you forget the Lord your Maker? Isaiah 51:12-13a

We all like to say and do things that will endure. We love to be remembered, valued and treasured by people for important deeds. We often think about the legacy that we will leave to family, friends and the world after we die. We are restless and searching because we are not sure how we will be remembered when our focus is on ourselves. Without God, this gives us a great need to be comforted and reassured about our future.

The Lord is our true Maker, Comforter and Protector. We have no reason to fear men but every reason to trust in the Lord, who guides us and numbers our days without error.

Even though our days here are fleeting like the grass of the field, our future with God is eternal because of His true greatness and goodness to us. It is when we do not concentrate on the goodness and greatness of the Lord that we become fearful and anxious of man.
