No longer will they call you Deserted or name your land Desolate. But you will be called Hephzibah (my delight is in her), and your land Beulah, for the Lord will take delight in you. Isaiah 62:4

Our sin results in us becoming deserted and our land becoming desolate. In choosing sin, we forsake hope and joy that would otherwise be ours. God’s plan is to destroy the power of sin and death by forming a relationship with His Son Jesus Christ. In the process of asking forgiveness for our sins, we are covered with His precious blood which cleanses us and gives us righteousness.

It is in this way that God can again look upon us with favor and find delight in us again. When we know God takes delight in us, we will not be afraid. This verse shows that it is God’s intent to marry us (Beulah), which means having an intimate relationship. It is in this relationship that our capacity is deepened to enjoy a more complete love from the heart of God.
