This is the one I esteem; he who is humble and contrite in spirit, and trembles at My Word. Isaiah 66:2b
One of the biggest lessons we can learn in life is that God is God and we are not. Our Creator God humbled Himself by sending His Only Son to die for those who were contrite for their sins. This is a thought that is difficult for us to grasp because it defies our laws of reason and understanding. Yet, God asks us to also be humble in our own small way compared to His great act of humility.
Jesus, God’s Son, modeled how we should live our lives on earth by not wanting to do anything that displeased His Father. In doing this, Jesus was perfectly submitted to the will and desires of His Father in heaven. In cooperating with His Father, we discover that the Father and the Son acted in concert with each other. Jesus obeyed the Father’s will as an example of how we should live with reverence and awe in our lives.
