But you, son of man, do not be afraid of them or their words. Do not be afraid, though briers and thorns surround you, and you dwell among scorpions. Ezekiel 2:6a
The biggest trouble with human beings is that they are human! This largely centers around the emotions of fear and intimidation both now and in the future. This leads to all kinds of irrational and dangerous decisions and acts about how we treat ourselves and each other. Fear, of course, opens the door for its other undesirable relatives to raise havoc and destruction in the battlefield in the mind.

The briers and thorns in this verse represent rumors and lies from the enemy and other manipulative people, who want their own way. The enemy uses liars to confuse the truth about the love of God and His protection. The scorpions are those among us that give us heart wounds that are not easily forgotten or healed.
These wounds also open doorways for the enemy to unfold his foul plans and schemes. Amid these attacks, God is faithful and rescues us from lies, deceit and fear when we put our trust and faith in Him.
