Jesus answered, “It is written, Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” Matthew 4:4

Bread here is a symbol for what men crave. It is not just food, but it is power, control and material things of all types and sizes. These things do not bring life but add confusion. The Word of God brings life and feeds our spirit.

All life came from the mouth of God when He spoke it into being. Whatever God speaks happens because of His awesome and unstoppable power. When we speak the Word of God, we repeat God’s words that add life, strength and purpose to our lives. We do not only repeat His Word for ourselves but for others that they may also be renewed in strength and not faint when the fears and trials of life attempt to overtake and subdue them.
