Therefore, keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. So, you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect Him. Matthew 24:42, 44

Only the Father knows when His son Jesus Christ will come again. We must learn to be on guard against the attacks and ambushes of the evil one, who lies and says Jesus Christ is not coming back. We must set our minds to guard against increasing and deepening evil as the time of His return draws near. Only we can invite the Holy Spirit and the presence of the Lord to inform and defend us against falling into dullness, lethargy, lukewarm thoughts and apathy.

Alert and watchful are the key attributes that we need to develop to be ready for His imminent arrival. We are watchful for small things, but we have not set our hearts for the greatest event in human history. When Jesus Christ comes again, there will be no time for repentance or change in our lifestyle anymore. When we apply the Word of God to our hearts in love, we will walk in His ways and be more prepared. This will take daily vigilance and discipline to draw near to God and stop the subtle drifting away from His great love.
