For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted. Luke 18:14b
Pride is the great enemy of a man’s soul and heart. Pride is a great offense to God and was Satan’s downfall as recorded in Isaiah 14. The sin of pride causes one to exalt himself above the works of God. This causes him to take control of his life and reject God’s leadership and God’s Word. Pride also hardens the heart of a man and sends him into rebellion against God.

Jesus was the example of the perfection of humility. Jesus only sought to know what the Father was doing and partnered with Him. His joy, humility, obedience and love for the Father was apparent in His actions and in His speech, which drew men closer to the heart and nature of God.
When we are humble, we will accept the Lordship of Jesus over our lives and seek, as Jesus did, to know the Father’s heart and have the mind of Christ.
