Jesus said to Martha, “I am the resurrection and the life, He who believes in Me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?” John 11:25

Jesus came and lived to challenge us with this earth quaking and history shaking promise. It is one of the central questions that we have to answer as we approach our possible death and or illness. Jesus promise defies intellectual reason and human experience while dispelling fear and anxiety. Jesus’ challenge forces us to decide what we will believe, our own experience of His promise of everlasting life or the world’s opinion.

To capture the promise of Jesus, we must not only believe it but also live as though it is true. This means that we need to act and live our lives free of anxiety and the fear of death. Jesus calls us to a life of love that will show and convince other people that His promises are true and believable. Love gives us authority to speak truth into other people’s lives as Jesus did in the life of Martha. After this statement, Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead as evidence of Father God’s power to raise the dead to life.
