I have given them Your Word, and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that You protect them from the evil one. John 17:14-15

Jesus, in His last long conversation with the disciples, continued to tell them what Father God wanted them to know. The world hated God’s words because it convicted them of their sin and God’s righteousness. It revealed the world’s hate and anger against the goodness and mercy of God. Men wanted to be in charge of their own lives and rule the world, but Jesus pointed out that God the Father was in charge.

Jesus Kingdom was not of this world and neither were His followers. They were in the world but did not follow the ways of the world. Because of this, Satan wanted to take them out and annihilate them physically. Jesus prayer was that they would be protected from the snares and traps of the evil one while they were living in this world. Fear and terror are just some of the traps that Jesus will break if we turn to Him.
