But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:13b-14
Our sinful human nature has forged us with a ball and chain as we struggle to finish our race of life. Whenever we decide to satisfy our flesh first, we add another link or weight to our ball and chain. Can we imagine running towards the finish line strapped with a ball and chain on our legs? That is what our humanity has done to inhibit our journey to God.
Despite our burdens, we lurch forward towards the finish line of life because we are aware that God promises great rewards when we remain faithful to Him to the end. God breaks us free of our ball and chains when we turn to Him for forgiveness of our sins and fix our eyes on Jesus and His goal for us. Eye has not seen nor has ear heard the incredible, astounding and breathtaking things that God has for us.
