Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him. James 1:12

No one receives the crown or title of a champion when they quit the contest before it is finished. Like it or not, we are in a battle for the eternal destiny of our souls. In every contest there is an adversary who comes against our desire to receive the crown of
life. Most battles are not quickly won but require perseverance and discipline to stand against the test.

Love is the powerful force that gives us the strength, determination and stamina to persevere to the end of the trial and win the crown of life. This love is provided from God because of Jesus Christ, who first loved us and gave up His life for our freedom and victory. It is in deciding to give our lives to Jesus that we are given the love to conquer fear, doubt and anxiety. It is only the pure love of Christ’s heart that enables us to love our enemies and do good to those who persecute us. We cannot earn this kind of heart, but it comes as a free gift to all who ask for it.
